This lineup had a regular Saturday night gig at Yokosuka Naval Base and we were always getting "play some Stevie Ray Vaughan!" That's how people judge a band nowadays, whether or not they play their favorite jukebox hits. Doesn't matter if you play them badly, just that you played them. Refusing to give in to this simple-minded nonsense I played several Blues classics/standards that Stevie was known for doing. Unfortunately the audiences on the base never made the connection and VOODOO CHILD (SLIGHT RETURN) was the only thing they recognized, which I got tired of playing halfway through the first time.
