This was one of the first songs I ever learned. My dad bought me an album by Luther 'Snake Boy' Johnson for my 15th birthday. Snake was with Muddy Waters when he cut that album and Muddy and his band are backing him on it. As part of my early guitarist training my dad showed me two instrumentals from this album, their rendition of Jimmy Smith's CHICKEN SHACK and this number. I've always enjoyed playing it so it's remained in my reportoire ever since. Come out to any gig and you'll hear us playing it.

Several other versions are available here on my website -all live- but this one captures the full arrangement in detail. The G7 substitution over Em in the second chorus was suggested to me Don Leady. I thought that was happily ironic since I also bought my first Tailgators record and learned ROCK'N'ROLL 'TILL THE COWS COME HOME when I was 15. The descending guitar/bass unison riff -second chorus after the solo- is from the record. They played it near the end during a solo but I thought it would sound cool go back to the head after the solo and then play it. Makes it jump out more and the whole song move along smoother.

Recorded August 2007 with Mark Schwarz on bass and Masaki Ito on drums.
